New Life as a Newborn Elephant Calf Walks with its Herd | Happy New Year!
Ranger Reece filmed this precious moment as he spotted a newborn wild elephant calf in the reserve walking with its herd. The wild herds are thriving and there are many calves and young elephants giving us great hope for the species in our protected wilderness. Unlike the rescued Jabulani herds, the wild herds consist of young elephants, both male and female, and only older females – as the older males leave to join their own bachelor herds in the bush, only coming into contact with the matriarchal herds on occasion. As 2022 rings in a new year of hope and renewed energy, this sweet sighting inspires us with its own promise of new life and growth 🐘🌳🐘
