We work with HERD Trust to support and care for the rescued Jabulani herd of elephants. The Trust came to be during the COVID pandemic when tourism stopped and we were unable as a lodge to support the elephants, due to a revenue halt. The Trust was born to encompass HERD elephant orphanage and the rescued herd and other integrated orphans and to use fundraising initiatives to bring in revenue to cover the high continuous costs of supporting these endangered animals in need. HERD relies on public funding to remain operational from month to month.
The HERD Trust is a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO ref nr 930072153), which means that bona fide donations made to HERD by South African taxpayers, whether companies or individuals are entitled to a deduction from taxable income.
