Who is TGCSA?

The Tourism Grading Council of South Africa is the official quality assurance body for accommodation in South Africa. Operated under the Tourism Business Council, the TGCSA evaluates properties on a star grading system from one to five stars, based on a wide range of criteria.

They don’t grade lightly, and that is what makes this recognition so meaningful.

How does TGCSA grading work?

The TGCSA is South Africa’s official body for accommodation grading. It evaluates establishments on a scale from one to five stars based on core areas like:

• Exterior, bedrooms and bathrooms – design, maintenance, space, comfort
• Public areas and facility standards – lounges, dining spaces, wellness offerings
• Food and beverage – quality, preparation, presentation and service
• Service excellence – professionalism, responsiveness, personalised touches
• Cleanliness and housekeeping
• Safety, accessibility and business practices

These are assessed by accredited, independent evaluators to ensure lodges like ours meet rigorous national and international benchmarks.
