Isaac (Sakkie) Shiburi – Head Butler Isaac, or Sakkie as he is fondly known, is our head butler at Jabulani. He is a local lad who grew up in Acornhoek, near the lodge. Both Sakkie’s parents worked on the Kapama Reserve and he often worked there as well during school holidays to earn pocket money. After school, in 1999, Sakkie was employed as a construction worker on Kapama, but soon moved to working with the electrician in the maintenance team. Lente Roode had asked him to join the maintenance team at Jabulani while the lodge was being built. Carl Olen, our then general manager, had noticed Sakkie’s diligence and spark, and took him under his wing to train him as a butler, where he has successfully been working ever since. Sakkie is a hard worker who takes his work very seriously. His mischievous smile captures most people’s hearts
