We are proud to present a new plant-rich dish for Food For Change’s #PlantTheFuture campaign this year. Relais & Châteaux and Slow Food have partnered to raise awareness of the need for changes in our daily diets for the health of the environment. They have inspired us to push the boundaries of fine dining by spotlighting the nutritional power of vegetables, legumes, nuts, whole grains, seaweed, fermented foods and other plants, foods that give us the protein we need, while sustainably benefiting our ecosystems.

Food For Change

For Food For Change 2024, we created a dish of:

Grapefruit Confit Sweet Potatoes

Steamed quinoa

Grapefruit chutney

Carrot Ribbons

Baby Beetroot

Steamed Patty pans

Toasted Pumpkin seeds

Pistachio puree

Jabulani Executive Chef, Alex van As says: “When creating a plant-based vegan meal, you must incorporate lots of nutrition and proteins such as nuts, seeds, and legumes, but at the same time, it needs to be fun, full of flavour and look good. The great thing about fresh local vegetables is that they are naturally appealing. Supporting small and local farmers helps the community and improves the quality of our cuisine and lifestyle.”

With dishes like ours above, we are demonstrating our commitment to lowering our environmental footprint… and showing that this change can be adopted elegantly, nutritionally and–perhaps most importantly–deliciously.

Now, it’s over to you, our guests, to embrace the cuisine of tomorrow.

SO WHY FOCUS ON PLANT-RICH / PLANT-FORWARD DIETS?

The overconsumption in a vast majority of countries of animal origin food sourced from factory farming and intensive fishing is related to multiple crises of our food systems: biodiversity loss, environmental impact (greenhouse gas emissions, land and water usage and pollution), health issues, and animal welfare.

The theme implements an agroecological dimension, which is against animal factory farming and intensive fishing. The idea is to safeguard the environment and our health… and thus, the planet.

Food systems face multiple challenges, especially the increased consumption of industrial food of animal origin. This has been detrimental to food security and human health, disastrous for animal welfare and has contributed to the climate emergency.
